Three Signs You Need to Modernize Your Swimming Pool

If you are lucky enough to have a swimming pool, then you are undoubtedly familiar with the upkeep and repairs required to ensure your pool is ready at a moment’s notice for cannonballs and parties. Even if you are extremely diligent with preventative maintenance on your pool, you may notice after enough time that your pool is in need of a facelift.

Technology continues to evolve, and with it the design and architectural possibilities of your backyard pool. The features that were so state-of-the-art 15 years ago when you build your pool are now considered standard, so it may be time for a modern twist to your favorite backyard pool.

Lighting

If your pool’s lighting is the equivalent of an old fluorescent lightbulb in the attic, then it’s definitely time to add some LED lights into your pool’s atmosphere. These incredibly versatile and energy efficient bulbs can serve every purpose from general flood light to under-the-water ambiance. Choose from a variety of colors and styles to create any pool atmosphere you might desire.

Resurfacing

If there is one way to transform the look of your pool without actually building a new pool, it’s resurfacing. When pool interiors become weak, they can crack and become pitted and stained.  In addition, new resurfacing materials are now available that look more sophisticated. Aggregate is a favorite because it contains a mixture of quartz or pebbles and plaster for a colorful and long-lasting finish that also adds more character for your pool.

Chlorine Alternatives

Salt water pool systems are definitely trending right now. You can create chlorine in your water using salt rather than adding it using traditional methods. Many swimmers prefer salt water pools because they are gentler on the skin and eyes while remaining cost-effective.

There are enough pool renovation ideas to fill a book, but these three are simple enough to get you started in your backyard pool transformation process.
