Pool Tile Installation Increases Safety and Adds Beauty

You may think that the only reason for a pool tile installation is to make your pool look fancier, but you are wrong! Pool tile installation is also necessary to make your pool and the areas around it safer for everyone. Choosing the right pool tile entails finding pool tile that is chemical resistant, high quality and easy to clean.

Pool tile is primarily used for fiberglass pools and can be pricey to install. Pool tiles are durable, long-lasting and require little maintenance. The type of tiles used for the base of the pool and the tiles used to decorate the pool are different and serve different purposes.

You may not need or want ornamental tile, but if you have a fiberglass pool in the ground, you should make sure that your pool installer offers perimeter waterline tiles, depth markers and mosaic tiles for style and flair. These pool tiles function differently and are great additions to your in-ground pool.

Perimeter Waterline Tile

These tiles form an upper and lower border around the rim of your pool which demarcates the waterline. Grime can accrue along the tile trim, so make sure the tile material is easy to clean.

Marked Tile: Depth Markers

Every pool should have depth markers to prevent serious injuries. They are usually 6” square tiles that have the water depth stenciled or painted onto them. Without them, children could end up in water that is too deep for them or others could dive into shallow water causing severe damage to themselves. Marked tiles include “no diving” signs and the pool depth in feet or meters.

Mosaic Tiles

Mostly used for decoration, mosaic tiles can be used also as perimeter water line markers. You can buy mosaic pool tiles made of porcelain, glass or ceramic in any number of colors, patterns, schemes and designs. Match the pool floor tiles to your waterline tiles to really beautify your pool!

Pool tile installation can be expensive and the more sophisticated the tiles are, the more you’ll pay for them. But when you want a pool that really pops, you can’t go wrong with a professional pool tile installation!
